The Issue

As a student myself, this new route has been stressing me out like never before. We all know how stubborn teachers are, and when I'm late because I was waiting for the 259 (which literally comes every 20 mins) and have to explain how I was pushing through like 50 people to get to the bus doors, they do absolutely nothing about it. This new bus route has messed with our schedule and money. Don't just accept this new route, because we all have a say, especially when it's US who pay everyday for THEIR transport. The customers have power aswell to make changes aswell. Here are reasons how this new route has negatively impacted us:

Loss of Direct Connections

• Broken Link to the Piccadilly Line: Commuters from Waltham Cross, Enfield, and Edmonton have lost their direct, single-bus link to the Piccadilly line at Manor House Station.

• Increased Travel Times: Passengers who previously stayed on the 279 now have to change buses or trains, adding unnecessary delays to their daily journeys.

Added Cost and Hardship for Vulnerable Passengers

• The "Hopper Fare" Limitation: While the Hopper Fare allows free transfers within an hour, any unexpected traffic delays that push the second bus past the 60-minute mark force passengers to pay twice for what used to be a single fare.

• Impact on Elderly and Disabled Passengers: Forcing vulnerable passengers, parents with pushchairs, and those with mobility issues to change buses introduces physical strain and accessibility hurdles that did not exist before.

Increased Overcrowding and Waiting Times

• Overburdened Alternative Routes: With the removal of both route 349 and the Seven Sisters–Manor House section of the 279, pressure on remaining services like the 259 will increase, leading to overcrowded buses and passengers being left behind at stops during peak hours.

• Reduced Reliability: Relying on a transfer means a single delay on the first leg of a journey ruins the entire commute, making travel less predictable for residents.

Safety and Comfort Concerns

• Waiting in the Elements: Forcing passengers off the bus at Seven Sisters to wait for a connection exposes them to rain, cold weather, and poor outdoor conditions.

• Night Safety: For night-time travellers, losing a direct, continuous route means waiting at street corners in the dark to change buses, raising valid personal safety concerns. The could increase the crime in the area.

Overall, there are many negatives from this change. I understand that they did this to stop overlapping the lines, but putting the 279 as its replacement, the most popular and used bus, wasn't the smartest move. I know many who are angry and upset about this. Please sign to revert this decision!!
