This time last year Ari was being written out of the show and not told when she would be back.. That March is when she visited HR with her complaint about the female actresses being written out or leaving largely in part due to toxic work conditions.
She reported that Albert Alaar escalated during the investigation.. things got worse.. then she was written out and had to get her lawyer involved so she could return to work.. Due to being written out she didn’t earn pay.. her travel stipend was discontinued as well.
This is why people stay silent and endure years of toxic work conditions because it’s better than losing their job.
Alaar denies most of the allegations against him and points the racism card at her for denigrating a black man in a position of power and trying to get a pay increase at a time of industry wide cutbacks.. although her male co stars make more than her and she was with the show for 25 years and should be a top earner.
He also says she’s looking for more influence on the show.. As the last leading lady standing I’d rather she had more influence.
Maybe it could’ve shifted the male focused storylines to a more equal on screen partnership.. at the very least maybe have more female issues delved into.
Days needs strong female characters not victims. They need strong female actresses and female crew members. They need Ari. When she stops airing maybe Karma will finally come their way. If we are lucky it’ll put the hurt on them and bring real change.
We stand we Ari.
