Issues were evident for years but escalated in 2015 when he became Co-Executive producer.
He was making people feel uncomfortable and humiliated
Men have been bullied by him too. A male cast member on recurring status came to the set after a hair trim- he’s not required to keep up grooming if not on contract- Alaar screamed at him in front of cast and crew and he was quickly written out of the show.
over the years it became a running joke that everything out of his mouth was inappropriate.
Alaar used the F word while directing love scenes. Making everyone feel uncomfortable
He also groped actresses while giving directing instructions//blocking scenes
He would put his hands around Ari’s waist with his thumbs placed 2 inches above her vagina and move her around while smirking and grunting in a sexual manner.
He would tightly hug her and push her breasts onto his chest while moaning “oh Ari”
5-6 years ago he forcibly kissed an actress without her consent at an event after the show won an award. Leaving her terrified of being anywhere alone with him.
After taping scenes he yelled at an actress dressed in a jumpsuit “Hey you big dyke” humiliating her in front of cast and crew.
on an actresses last day of the show he told her to come up to his office to F.ck him.
An actress who expressed that she was morally uncomfortable with a scene was fired soon after.
Females felt that they were being abused and their workplace was toxic due to his behavior and them not wanting to report things for fear of losing their jobs.
Again he was in a position of power and he said who stayed and who left and if you questioned him or spoke up you could lose your job.
These are only some of the allegations reported to Deadline and in Arianne’s lawsuit.
Corday productions was fine with keeping him and having him undergo sensitivity training. It was only after the cast drafted a petition and it got National exposure that Alaar was relieved of his duties.
He had already written Arianne, a contract player, out of the show. This was done during the investigation to an actresses on a front burner storyline.
If she hadn’t enlisted the help of her lawyer who knows if they would’ve brought her back.
As it was her contract expired in January and unlike the past 25 years- Corday productions refused to negotiate with her. They gave her a take it or leave it offer.
Honestly while I would love to have her back in the cast.. maybe seeing this lawsuit through and bringing this all out in court is the best thing for Arianne and the cast. So that this doesn’t all get swept under the rug.. which appears to be the way things have gone in the past.
Also it’s possible that Arianne could take her skills to another show/Network. This lawsuit makes that tricky so we will have to see how it all plays out in court and then hopefully she’s back on the air.. wherever feels right to her.
It’s a shame that the person with the strength to do what was right is the one paying the price. But it’s also a testament to the kind of person Ari is.
They may describe her as difficult, vengeful, and money hungry. Those are all words men use for strong, independent women.
I’m guessing this is another thing Ken Corday doesn’t know what to do about..
