Hello neighbors, friends, and families of Acton, Boxborough, Maynard, Stow, Littleton, and surrounding towns,

Do you struggle to find local, affordable swimming lessons for your kids? Do you spend your evenings playing "taxi driver," rushing from a gymnastics studio to a basketball court, only to have no time for your own health? Do you wish there was one place where your whole family could be active, together?

We do too. And that’s why we’re starting this initiative.

Our family loved being part of the YMCA for over seven years. It was our community hub. Our kids learned to swim, played sports, and we could finally exercise while they were in class. It was a one-stop solution for our family’s health and wellness.

Then we moved to Acton.

We were shocked to discover that our entire area is a “YMCA desert.” The closest branches are in Hopkinton and Westborough—a 35-minute drive without traffic. For a busy family, that’s simply not feasible. We lost a vital part of our community life, and we know we can’t be the only ones.

Here’s the shocking part: Our community is large enough to support one.

The combined population of just Acton, Boxborough, Maynard, Stow, and Littleton is nearly 60,000 people.
That’s larger than the city of Beverly, MA, which has its own YMCA branch.
Our area is growing rapidly, filled with young families who value health, wellness, and community.
But right now, we have nothing. No public pools for swim lessons or water aerobics for seniors. No affordable community gym where families can play together. We are driving past each other on Routes 2, 495, and 117 to get services other communities take for granted.

The YMCA isn’t just a gym. It’s a solution.
Imagine: dropping your kids off for swimming or gymnastics and then heading to a yoga class—all under the same roof, at the same time. No more wasted hours in the car. It’s a place for teens to hang out, for seniors to stay active, and for families to connect. It’s a true community center, with financial assistance available so everyone can belong.

We have a unique opportunity. We have the population. We have the need. We have the perfect demographic of families who would benefit immensely.

But we need to show the YMCA that our community is ready and waiting.

That’s where you come in.

We are calling on the YMCA of Greater Boston to commission a feasibility study for a new branch in the Acton/Maynard area. But they need to see that our community wants this and will support it.
