The Issue

Since last year, I've eagerly awaited joining the robotics club because it was a pivotal part of my experience in middle school. It provided a space for growth, creativity, and camaraderie. I was utterly surprised and disappointed to learn from my peers that Parkville High School does not have a robotics club. With the world increasingly reliant on technology, understanding robotics is not just an extracurricular activity; it's a vital skill that prepares us for future careers.

Having a robotics club can significantly enhance students' education by encouraging innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Robotics is more than just assembling machines; it involves electronic, mechanical, and software components, providing hands-on learning that complements our academic curriculum. It encourages students to think critically and work collaboratively, essential skills in today's world.

The absence of such a club inhibits us not only from developing these crucial skills but also from exploring potential career paths in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Many educational and private organizations now recognize the importance of STEM, and robotics plays a crucial role in these fields.

I propose we gather the enthusiasm and interest already present among students at Parkville High School to create a new robotics club. This initiative requires support, funding, and perhaps the guidance of a dedicated teacher or mentor to ensure its success. The school can facilitate partnerships with local businesses and tech firms to sponsor the club or provide internships, giving students a taste of working in information technology or engineering sectors.

I am calling on the administration of Parkville High School, fellow students, parents, and community members to support this initiative. By establishing a robotics club, we will not only enrich our school's extracurricular offerings but will also empower students with the skills they need to thrive in the future. Please sign this petition to show your support for bringing a robotics club to Parkville High School. Together, we can make a significant difference in our education and personal development.
