We, the residents of Headford and the surrounding communities, are calling on Lidl Ireland to open a new store in our town.
Currently, Headford only has one major supermarket, creating a retail monopoly. To shop at a discount grocery store like Lidl, local families are forced to drive over 22km to Galway City or Ballinrobe. With high fuel costs and the rising cost of living, this is unsustainable.
Headford is a rapidly growing town and a vital hub for surrounding villages including Caherlistrane, Shrule, Glencorrib, Belclare, and Corrandulla. A new Lidl would:
Provide much-needed grocery competition and lower shopping bills.
Save local residents time and money on long commutes.
Create local jobs and keep shopping revenue within our local economy.
