Being a College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) student at Ball State University sometimes feels like surviving a caffeine marathon. The late nights, endless assignments, and demanding schedules leave us longing for a place where we can grab a hot drink or snack without having to abandon the confines of the CAP building. The Kinghorn Hall offers a late-night cafe option, which has been a lifesaver for many students at the university. We need a similar solution right at the heart of our very own CAP building, open until midnight, to support the sleep-deprived and overworked CAP students.

Currently, the absence of a nearby or on-site cafe in the CAP building forces students to leave the building, often hindering productivity and sapping the precious time we could be dedicating to our studies. A cafe would provide a vital service, creating a conducive environment for learning and collaboration. Those late-night periods are when creativity thrives for architecture and planning students; we need an amenity that supports this unique requirement.

Kinghorn Hall's late services have proven highly beneficial for campus night owls, and it's time CAP students are afforded the same opportunity. Imagine having a well-lit, safe space where students can refuel, both mentally and physically, without having to venture across campus during the night. With dining facilities open until 12 am, it would directly address the needs of students in disciplinary courses that demand late-night study sessions.

We urge Ball State University Administration to allocate resources for the establishment of a late-night cafe in the CAP building. This facility could not only support students academically but also foster a sense of community among our diverse groups.
