As Mayor of Norwalk, I’ve seen our community grow, thrive, and dream big—but now it’s time to dream even bigger. Picture this: you’re cruising along I-35, and just off the exit, you’re welcomed not only by our hometown pride, but by the legendary beaver of Buc-ee’s. I believe it’s time Norwalk became home to Iowa’s very first Buc-ee’s. Let’s bring this iconic brand north—where it belongs!

Bringing such an iconic and rapidly expanding American brand to Norwalk would be a tremendous boon for the community. We have the ideal location, with convenient access to Interstate 35, promising high visibility along a heavily traveled corridor. Furthermore, with its array of services and products, Buc-ee's would cater to a wide range of needs of the local population and interstate travelers alike. 

Buc-ee's growth strategy has served it well thus far, with over 50 locations across the United States as of 2025. However, there isn’t one in Iowa at this time. A first-in-Iowa Buc-ee's located in Norwalk could be a game-changer for the Des Moines metro, and while we are aiming for two Buc-ee's, but we are ready to appreciate the presence of one in our community for now.

Therefore, I request the management at Buc-ee's, along with our local government representatives, to consider this proposal earnestly. Let's bring Buc-ee's to Norwalk, where the brand will grow, the community will thrive, and the spirit of our road trips will be enlivened further.
