The Issue

In Lovington, Hobbs, and throughout Lea County, pet owners and animal rescuers are facing a serious gap in veterinary care — we have no 24/7 animal hospital to turn to during emergencies.

While there are four veterinary offices in Hobbs, NM providing care during regular hours, there is currently no facility equipped to handle urgent or emergency cases around the clock. After-hours care is extremely limited, and for many people — especially those without an established vet — options are nonexistent.

That means in the middle of the night, on weekends, or during critical moments, those with animal's needing help are often left without anywhere local to turn.

Many animal parents and rescuers — including myself — have had to drive all the way to Lubbock, TX for care. Even for non-emergencies, this can be stressful and expensive. But in a true emergency, when minutes matter, the delay can be devastating.

Animals are family. Their health emergencies deserve the same urgency and access we would want for anyone we love — this includes rescue animals, who are often already vulnerable.

We are asking for a 24/7 animal hospital to be brought to Lovington, Hobbs, or ideally both — somewhere in Lea County where pets, livestock, rescues, and strays can receive the urgent care they need at any hour.

This would save lives, reduce suffering, and bring peace of mind to animal guardians who want to protect and care for those they love.

Please sign this petition to show your support for bringing an emergency animal hospital to our area. Lea County is ready. Our animals deserve better.
