Bring 2027 WWE SummerSlam to Bangor, Maine

Bring 2027 WWE SummerSlam to Bangor, Maine
The Issue
The last time WWE was in Maine for any sort of filming for a televised wrestling event was way back in the late 90’s with a taping of Monday Night Raw. Since then the WWE has expanded its reach further and further worldwide with shows in France, Puerto Rico, Wales and London, and even the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with more coming in 2024 in Germany and Scotland.
But the good old USA is still the home of the WWE with its headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and thus the shows primarily stay stateside. With all that in mind it is my belief that Maine deserves another chance to be the epicenter at which the WWE Universe can convene and bear witness to some of the greatest entertainment on earth. And what better way than to go all in on bringing one of WWE’s oldest and most popular Premium Live Events to Vacationland? It’s true, it’s damn true, I believe that Bangor, Maine and the Maine Savings Amphitheater can and should host the 2027 WWE SummerSlam PLE, the first ever PLE to be in Maine, as well as the Friday Night Smackdown the proceeds it and the Monday Night Raw that follows.
Now the obvious is: “Why in the world should the Maine State Government even try to bid for the right to host?” The reasons are quite simple. The first is Tourism. Maine isn’t just called Vacationland so that we’re not saddled as just being the Pine Tree capital of the USA. Maine is one of the best 4 seasons vacation spots, if not THE BEST, in all of the USA. People come from the lower half of the east coast to all the way on the west coast to come visit our national parks, ski resorts and skiing parks, sandy beaches, and try the delicious food we have. By having, as WWE calls it, “The Biggest Party Of The Summer” here in Maine our tourism would explode with people coming from far and wide possibly weeks in advance to not only see amazing wrestling shows, but visit and experience our great state.
The second would be the profit that would come from this event. As stated before people would flock from far and wide to see “The Biggest Party Of The Summer” and our great state. With this in mind it’s a no brainer that the local economy can and will feel the presence of the WWE Universe in every community and business across Maine. Not to mention but with the potential and likely endorsement from WWE Superstars as well as local wrestlers who’ve made their name in the WWE (Scotty 2 Hotty and Fandango/Dirty Dango) with local business and culture via social media, Maine can expect business in tourist seasons to come to absolutely boom with profit.
The final point is that of Maines own wrestling heritage. Maine has always had its place in wrestling history, from the territories to today, where future stars continue to come and build their stock in the pro wrestling world in companies such as Limitless Wrestling and Let’s Wrestle! Several of the hottest wrestlers today have had their roots in wrestling in Maine such as Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Jordynne Grace, Carmelo Hayes, as well as the native names I mentioned earlier who made their names in the past 30 years. Having this event in Maine would not only be a great thing for the entire state, its economy and people but it would also be a celebration of Maines Wrestlers and the states wrestling history.
This show deserves to be a reality. For all of Maine and its great people. And if we want it to happen, we have to act quickly, cause the 2026 SummerSlam has already been decided. So please, do consider what this means for all of us here. A chance to make History.
