This is a petition to gather support to request Auckland Transport to make the roads safer for everyone using it. Possible solutions might be to either install traffic ease / reduce speed limit / speed bumps / speed cameras, more safe pedestrian crossings and side walks on Brightside Road and Stanmore Bay road,  Whangaparaoa.

A few of us live along these two roads. With all the sport fields, schools and activities, this area is vey busy with a very high concentration of pedestrians mixing with vehicles. Most of our families and friends go to Stanmore Bay beach, the sport fields, the local dairy, Stanmore Bay Primary, Whangaparaoa College, Leisure Center or even to one of the 7 kindies/care centers/ day care on and around these two streets. Our little ones go for a walk with their teachers and most of us have pets. There are parks and bird breeding fields.

It is very worrying  to see at what speed some cars and motorcycles travel up and down these two roads. There were already a few accidents and sad to say, mostly caused by speeding young drivers. We recently also lost our beloved cat to such a racer. I don't know about you but if I hear a screech of tyres, I already wait for the crash. Fortunately there were no fatal injuries yet. Is it going to cost a live before anything will be done?
