Brighton seafront basketball court renovation

The Issue

A total renovation of the basketball court on the seafront in Brighton. It’s a shame to look at and it’s supposed to be one of the main attractions here. The floor is cracked and recently got violated by the toilets been used during the lockdown. The basketball rims need a change, so do the nets and I feel no action has been taking as Basketball is viewed as a Black Dominated Sport in my opinion. The flood lights also need to be maintained. The back boards need a change as they will hurt someone soon. Papering over a crack still means there’s a crack under the paper.  Let’s get this done. We know the council takes a lot when it comes to taxes and Parking tickets in Brighton so where is this money going too?! The beautification of Brighton for one I would hope? as we all love the city we live in but would appreciate more effort in the simple areas of life. We are not asking for a building or an extension, just a renovation. Basketball is life to me and so many other young people out there like myself. It’s given me values, friends, memories and discipline, keeping me off the streets and away from jail. Just sitting, listening to the sound of the bouncing ball around the court, feeling the wind, enjoying the sun with the sea behind me or just plain old playing the sport I love makes me feel sad seeing the state it’s in currently. Does the council expect its people whom they got elected by to put their own hands together for this? I do not want to even think this any longer than what I have already. Get it done please and soon!.
