On March 18th, BYU-Idaho sent out an email to all of its students informing them that due to COVID-19, Spring Semester 2020 would be held remotely and online. 

This has left thousands of students with apartment contracts that they no longer need, since they will no longer be attending school on campus. Students have also been encouraged to go back home.

Due to the continuous spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the CDC has advised people to limit their gatherings to less than 10 people, practice social distancing, as well as other safe and healthy lifestyle practices. By allowing students to stay home, students will be able to limit the spread of the disease, by not bringing it back to Rexburg, ID, and will continue to practice social distancing as well.

Because this is an unseen factor in these students lives, many of which cannot afford to pay hundreds of dollars for an apartment they no longer need, we are asking that Campus Housing allow students who wish to stay home and stay safe, cancel their Spring Semester 2020 housing contracts.
