For too long, Virgins have gone unfairly stigmatized in a society where it’s “cool” to make fun of people who follow the scriptures and wait for marriage. The mainstream media is saturated with sex and lewdity, and Virgins are routinely the punchline of jokes and memes on the internet and in everyday discourse.

BYU is one of the only universities where pre-marital sex is prohibited by school policy. With that said, even BYU drifts closer and closer towards sin and obscenity. It is time for BYU to approve a real Virginity Club where faithful students waiting for marriage can discuss their trials and struggles, as well as the negative tropes in pop culture. 

Virgins are not better than anyone else, and forgiveness is always possible (think. Born Again Virgins)—but BYU students waiting until marriage deserve a safe space on campus. A space where they can examine their unique position in a society where Virginity is the exception rather than the rule.
