Over the last few months, I have been researching events related to on campus sexual assault cases and BYU parking policies. As a resident of BYU's Heritage Halls, I am required to park over a mile away from my building. This is the same parking lot where the most recent assault took place. I, along with many other students, attend early morning gym classes and have late night school classes in Salt Lake that force me to access my car during quiet, dark, and low trafficked times. 

BYU cited their removal of parking for on campus housing residents as "a push towards a more commuter friendly campus." I, however, see it as an exploitation of student safety for increased profit margins.
