Stop Bridgend County Borough Council making cuts to school transport for our children.

Stop Bridgend County Borough Council making cuts to school transport for our children.
The Issue
Bridgend council and their transport department are putting the new year 7 pupils of Cynffig Comprehensive school at risk walking to and from school, long distances, poor light and busy unsafe roads during the route to school. Some of which have just turned 11 and have never walked this far alone before. We as a community have to stand up against these cuts and the proposed changes as they will affect families who live within 3 miles of Cynffig Comprehensive school.
Children are the most vulnerable in our community and as parents we want to do everything in our power to protect them and these cuts will be detrimental to many areas, such as health & well being and their education. This is a risk that should never be taken. This year our children have all been through enough without being faced with the long walk to and from school in all weathers with all their equipment.
There are children with serious health problems such an epilepsy who have also been denied access to transport to get them to school safe. Without this transport these children will not make it to school alone and are currently been failed by the council.
The buses will still run as all previous years are currently getting their bus passes and IF Younger siblings who are just joining school have an older sibling who catches the bus they will be issued a bus pass so we see it as incredibly unfair to the children who have to walk around 30-35 minutes to school during the busiest time of day putting them at risk of an accident.
This isn’t something that we have all taken for granted we aren’t asking for something for nothing we have asked to pay for our children’s bus pass so that it is no extra cost to Bridgend council this has also been refused.
Please sign this to help keep the children safe and continue to have transport provided to and from school.
