13 Reasons Why is a show that has had so much controversy surrounding it, and while many enjoy it as a form of entertainment, the issues it deals with are not to be used as marketing tools. It’s audience consists of extremely impressionable teens, and has resulted in the relapse of many. Scenes included in the show are extremely graphic, and the characters are portrayed in a way that is primarily for the purpose of entertainment and to fulfil their roles as characters on a teen drama rather than characters on a show that was supposed to have a purpose of educating its audience, and shedding light on highly sensitive topics, and starting important, but healthy, conversations. 

The way it it has been created and written has resulted it in causing more harm than benefit. It glorifies and romanticises mental illnesses and other serious and major issues (sexual assault and rape etc.) to such a large extent that makes it beyond damaging to certain viewers, adults and children alike.

So please, get this show off mass media networks and aim for more feasible and appropriate ways to approaching this extremely important (but complex) issues.
