Judge Martin Hastings of the Las Vegas Municipal Court has given me 14 days jail term for a first offense domestic violence charge I received for pushing my husband prior to learning I was pregnant. My husband did NOT press charges. The state did. Due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, I was not able to complete all of my classes. I am currently exclusively breast feeding my 6 month old twin daughters. I have requested more time to finish now that the babies are older and more manageable. I have also requested house arrest. I have advised the judge that my babies do not accept bottles. If I go to jail for 14 days, I do not know what will happen to my babies. They do not use a bottle. Breast feeding is all they know. The WHO and CDC all recommend that babies be breast fed for up to two years. The judge has requested I wean my babies so that I may do 14 days in jail against medical recommendations. I have notes from the doctors as well as a letter from the Nevada State Public Health Department advising the judge as such. This is NOT about me!!!' This is about my children! They should not have to suffer for a mistake I made prior to their birth! The judge will not consider any alternative sentence that will spare my children the stress and confusion of having their mother ripped from their arms. Please help me by signing and sharing!
