A recent announcement has emulated that after many years on a potentially great project, Sacha Baron Cohen has pulled out of the currently untitled Freddie Mercury biopic. The reasoning is because of disputes between Cohen and the remaining members of Queen and what type of tone to take with the film. Cohen wanted to deliver a gritty R rated-type biopic that was set up to tell all, while Queen want a much more family friendly, PG-type film (why not compromise with a PG-13?).
For the many fans of both Queen and Sacha Baron Cohen around the world, this will come as a great shock. In many peoples opinion, it is unanimous that Cohen was an astonishingly perfect fit. With his eccentric filmography of character work and his natural acting chops, he had the potential to bring the much needed gravitas to Freddie Mercury and is arguably the only living candidate to really fill the big shoes of Freddie's persona. It is easily one of the worst news stories to come of the film world in some time and to not see Sacha Baron Cohen being involved in this perfect collabaration is dissappointing beyond words.
This petition has been created in the hope of the remaining members of Queen and the other attached producers to see the error of their ways. We understand the process that films take throughout its conception and the appeal of an all-ages piece of entertainment is understandable, but the array of fans have always been fascinated by the idea of the real Freddie that a lot of us really don't know. This biopic is the perfect opportunity to amalgamate the hidden face of Freddie Mercury in all his glory with something very fun and entertaining for the longtime Queen fans. Please don't continue with this recent mistake. Bring back Sacha Baron Cohen and settle on a film worthy of the greatest entertainer of all time.

"You can do whatever you like with my image, my music, remix it, re-release it, whatever...JUST NEVER MAKE ME BORING"
