Stop Deer Hunting at Mercer County Parks
The Issue
Problem
Mercer County Park has opened up deer hunting, including by bow and arrow, from October 29 to February 16.
The shooting and bow hunting is being conducted while the park is frequented by numerous visitors.
This widely used recreation area has become a killing ground instead of a safe haven for people and animals.
Overpopulation is a misguided excuse for the “sport” of hunting. Immunocontraception is a more effective and humane means of deer population control.
We ask that hunting be discontinued at all Mercer County Parks.
Solution
Discontinue deer hunting and use a safer and humane method of deer population control, such as immunocontraception.

I live in a nearby area and have worked in Mercer County. I have visited this park, and it pains me to know that deer are being senselessly killed. I also do not think that it is safe for humans and pets to use this park while deer hunting is occurring.
