Target Corporation has made a stand supporting transgender people in their understandable desire to have the same access rights as all other people to public accommodations. Groups who oppose this have started a petition expressing their discomfort with that decision. So far Target has stood by their decision to be inclusive. We wish to show that we support their original decision and that we believe other corporations should make the same commitment. Transgender people in America often fear the implications of others objecting to their use of the facilities appropriate to them. That the people controlling these facilities welcome them has a significant positive impact upon health a and well being. No group has shown transgender people to be any particular threat to anyone else in restrooms and changing rooms. All attempts to do so have only had non transgender people commiting acts which are already illegal to point to. Supporting the argument that transgender people should be excluded only leads to an environment of hysteria in which even non-transgender people can be refused service as happened on January 23 2015 to Cortney Bogorad at Fishbone's Restaurant in Detroit when a security guard decided she didn't look female enough. Transgender people deserve the same rights as all other people and Target is to be applauded for understanding and supporting this.
