The Issue

Mr. Cornell,

One of the biggest contributors to climate change is food waste. Consumers throw out 40% of food we bring home. Composting turns that food waste into useful fertilizer for the garden, and helps return carbon to our soils. Target holds the key to making composting at home easier for millions of people.

Smith and Hawken (R.I.P. 2009) made the world's best compost bin, the BioStack. There isn't another product on the market that is even close to its easy-to-use, 3-frame, stackable design. Target owns the Smith & Hawken brand, and has the molds and patents to manufacture this compost bin once again.

Target! Bring back the Smith & Hawken BioStack compost bin so everyone on the planet can compost easily. Make it out of recycled plastics for an even lower environmental impact.

Gardening is a $48 billion industry. The market is filled with inferior compost bins that leave consumers longing for the BioStack. Bring the BioStack back.

Sincerely,

Christy Wilhelmi
