Manhattan College Class of 2020 requests our Senior Week and Commencement to be postponed!
The Issue
Commencement is known to be one of the most celebratory and pivotal times our young adult lives. It is not only the acknowledgment of our four years of achievement, hard work and dedication, but it is a chance to say thank you and goodbye to our professors who have impacted us, friends who have become our family and college campus that has shaped us. While our community is facing a turbulent and devastating time, it would only impact Manhattan College and its students negatively to not have our senior week and commencement ceremony. Manhattan College prides itself on our "Jasper Nation" mentality, the tightness of our community and deep routed connections. Students work hard for four years and deserve the time to celebrate our accomplishments together as a community. In addition, commencement is not only a time for seniors, but also their families. Many of our students are bronx naitives, born and bred Jaspers or first generation graduates and finishing college means more than being handed a certificate. With that being said, Manhattan College Class of 2020 is requesting that our senior week and graduation ceremony not be canceled or held remotely, but postponed to a time when it is safe to celebrate each other together. Please support Manhattan College Class of 2020 and help us have the end of college experience we deserve.
