This year's great north run route has been changed and the organisers did so without consulting participants. They also carried this out after the date for refunds had passed. 

This makes it obvious that entrants have paid for a product that they are no longer receiving. Secondly this will also have a massive impact on the Borough of South tyneside with many businesses taking a huge financial hit as the number of people using the boroughs facilities have been cut. 

The GNR is a massive part of the local South tyneside culture along the iconic leas. 

The GNR should either refund runners who do not want to participate in a different course or make the route return to its normal iconic traditional route.
