Brandy Melville claims to be an inclusive brand by having a - one size fits all - but the reality is, it is not. Their “one size fits all” does not fit ALL. It is catered to petite small bodies. They profit off a specific body type and shape. Their clothing is catered to those who fall under the beauty standard. It leaves out every other body type and shape. It is time that consumers hold this brand accountable for the harm it does to young women.

Brandy Melville further lacks inclusion in terms of who models for the brand and who they hire for stores. The models and employees they hire, have a specific look that matches who they want their target consumer to be. Models and employees who work for this brand do not properly represent the rest of society. 

From experience, I have friends who are too intimidated to shop at Brandy Melville due to their non-inclusive sizes. They feel that Brandy Melville wants to promote that only specific bodies fall under the beauty standard and anyone who falls short of that is not beautiful. 

I have had other friends who fell victim to thinking it was an inclusive brand due to the false advertisement. They walk in with high hopes that the clothing will fit but instead walk out with their body dysmorphia at all-time high and insecure thoughts affecting them. Brandy Melville's main consumers are young impressionable girls. When they shop and see articles of clothing not fit - rather than question the brand, they question their body. They are left looking elsewhere and think these clothes are only meant for skinny girls. 

The goal of this petition is to raise enough awareness to make Brandy Melville truly inclusive -- with various body types and shapes taken into account for sizes. For years, Brandy Melville has been called out for its lack of inclusivity. It is 2022, they still have not made the proper changes even with various body positivity, inclusion, and neutrality movements at an all-time high. Brands like this led to self-image issues which lead to body disorders. They have to change and be inclusive in terms of sizes and who they hire. Brandy Melville needs to create more sizes to truly include others. Their ability to profit off of a certain body type and aesthetic needs to come to an end. Please sign and stop supporting Brandy Melville until they take proper measures to be inclusive.
