Stop the transfer of Sunnybank Recreational fields to Albion Sports

The Issue

Bradford Council are proposing to dispose of the playing fields on Sunny Bank Lane (BD3 7DG) & Bradford Rd Pudsey (A647 opposite Howdy’s) to Albion Sports (Football Club) via a Community Asset Transfer (CAT)

There is significant concerns amongst the local community at the large scale of what Albion Sports are proposing to do on this popular and widely used green belt open land. Some of these proposals includes ;

• Building a First Team football pitch providing category‘F’ football facilities (including turnstiles, Public address system, 1.1m permanent fixed barrier around the playing pitch - (They currently play their football at Farsley Celtic throstle nest ground which has a crowd capacity of just under 4,000 people)

• 4G pitches

• Floodlights

• Club house including a bar just off Sunny Bank Lane

•. Building structures including changing rooms, storage facilities, Classrooms, showers, toilets etc

•. Hiring out of the 4G pitches & Classrooms to generate income for the club

• And worst of all they plan to protect their Football pitches by Fencing off the entire green belt open field (both sides) with a minimum height of 1.8 metre fencing.

This will in effect stop the local community from using the free open space recreational fields (which thousands of local people and from far afield have been using for decades) unless they play football as part of their club or are willing to pay for the hire of these football pitches.

Please oppose this development as it will cause major highways issues, severe parking problems in the entire neighbourhood , Noise / Light pollution, anti social behaviour and local people (including walkers) being denied free access to open green spaces.

** Please kindly forward to your contacts in the local area as well as people you know from further afield who benefit from using this open green space to raise awareness and to voice concerns / opposition to this development.

A copy of Bradford council letter sent out only to residents of Sunnybank Lane, Avenue and Grove will be sent with this message briefly outlining their intentions but without going into too much details

The plans are to build a cat. F 4G stadium with flood lights, fencing, seating and without any existing PARKING plus another 4G Pitch, 3 training pitches, a clubhouse, changing rooms...All of which requires parking.

Bradford council need to stop this Community Assett transfer to Albion Sports and keep these fields active and not for commercial use
