The current care of Chameleons in pet store chains is unacceptable and a disgrace to pet keeping as a whole. Due to the main focus of pet reforms being on dogs and cats, the "traditional" companion pets, reptiles have been brushed off and walked past for too long. With the constant spreading of incorrect information by big chain pet stores such as PetSmart and Petco, and the amount of trust put into these store by the pet parent, countless reptiles including Chameleons have suffered and died. Only too late do people realize that they had been handed not the tools to take care of their animals, but the tools instead to keep these business selling sick animals. Chameleons are very sneaky in hiding their health issues until it becomes too late. This makes Chameleons the perfect time ticking pet that allows chain pet stores to continue selling them while convincing the pet parents that they themselves caused the issues. My goal is to put in place the building blocks of a new pet care reform, focusing on the care and husbandry of Chameleons. Your support here will help me convince not only my local government, but also convince chain pet stores that their improper housing and care will continue no longer.
