Idaho Disabled Veteran Home Property Tax Exemption

The Issue

The current Idaho law allows veterans that are 100% disabled to be exempt from paying property tax in the State. The Bureau of Veterans Affairs has a calculation that is an complex in order to calculate 2 or more disabilities; ie: if a veterans is rated at 90% disabled the veteran would then need to get another rating of 50% or greater in order to get to the 100% level. In normal math the veteran would need only 5% but due to the complexity of this it is almost impossible to get to the 100% level.

Due to the above and the amount of disabled military veterans in the State of Idaho I am creating this petition to official change the law to allow a disable veteran with 80% disability will be exempt from paying property tax on his home of residence in the State of Idaho.

If enacted this new law should not cause new taxes or anything else. Due to the amount of new people coming into the state and building houses they will be contributing their money into the county in which the veteran resides which will offset their exemption.
