We've Passed the Threshold! (Thoughts on the Road Ahead)

Salutations! Two days ago, we past the 1,000 signatures mark. Our voice is strong and our message will be heard. Change is inevitable. I'm working to arrange a meeting with Commissioner Avakian, during which I will explain our mission, present this petition, and ask for his support in changing the law. Yes, the troublesome regulation is actually state law. The OCEANetwork, and other pro-homeschooling organizations, have created bills in the past to change it, but the Oregon Legislature has failed to recognize it as a true priority - a desperately needed fix to an antiquated and discriminatory statute. But with this petition in hand, organizers and lobbyists can demonstrate the support that exists for this movement. Politicians will be hard-pressed for a reason to ignore us.
