Shut Down Lovech Zoo

Shut Down Lovech Zoo

The Issue

Lovech Zoo is a zoo located in Stratesh Park in Lovech, Bulgaria. It is the second largest zoo in Bulgaria after the one in Sofia

Our undercover investigation has brought to light the shocking conditions that the animals at Lovech Zoo are facing. Please visit our website to see for yourself the shocking conditions that they inhabit.

We are calling for the Zoo in Lovech to be closed down and all the inhabitants to be released into their natural environment or reputable sanctuaries.

This petition is to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Environment and Water of Bulgaria & the Chief Executives of the Born Free Foundation.

According to the EU Zoo inquiry of 2011 the zoo hardly met any of the requirements as shown in the links below.

In 2014 a worker accidentally left the door open to the jaguar cage and subsequently  escaped only to be shot the next day only meters away from the zoo fence. According to the city mayor Mincho Kazandzhiev “there was no other option” but to kill the jaguar.

Without a trace many other animals have gone missing including polar bears, Siberian tigers and Amur leopards.

Please sign this petition to bring an end to the suffering of these beautiful animals.

Thank you
