It's been a long while with no news on the status of federal protections for gray wolves. At long last, I am happy to report that thanks in part to the incredible efforts by Earthjustice.org and other advocacy groups, federal protections for gray wolves have been restored in 44 states: overturning the careless and deadly decision established by the Trump administration in 2020 to delist gray wolves as an endangered species.
This is monumental news and an amazing victory in the preservation and protection of this beautiful species. Thank you to all who shared and signed this petition; donated to Earthjustice; and supported their efforts to sue the federal government for failing to protect this keystone species.
Unfortunately, many Wolves were killed in the time it took to restore their protection, and protections have not been restored in the states of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, where unregulated and inhumane culling of wolves is legally allowed to continue.
We must remain vocal and continue advocating for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to support our ecosystems and use their power responsibly and ensure all U.S. states are committed to protecting their valuable wildlife.
We should all take the time to remember that we are part of a greater, worldwide family: the ecosystem of Earth. We must cooperate with it, share it, and protect it as our common heritage, lest we lose it forever.
Thank you all!
