The Issue

To Tacoma community and leadership :

Recently, a tragedy occurred when a beloved member of our community—a brother, a son, and a dear friend—was fatally shot near this establishment. While paramedics were on the pavement desperately fighting to save his life, management/ownership from Dorky's Arcade chose to go live on Facebook.
Instead of showing basic human decency, they broadcasted the medical emergency live to the public while making deeply racist, derogatory, and dehumanizing comments. They actively fostered a hostile environment in the video's comment section, allowing viewers to spew further racial slurs and hate speech targeted at a dying Black man.
A History of Racism:
This is not an isolated incident. Dorky’s Arcade has a well-documented, decade-long history of racial animus and hostility toward the Black community in Tacoma, including a highly publicized 2015 incident where the co-owner used a bullhorn to scream racial slurs at peaceful demonstrators.
Tacoma is a diverse, vibrant city. We refuse to let businesses profit in our downtown core while actively dehumanizing our neighbors and exploiting Black trauma for social media entertainment.
Our Demands:
1. A Complete Public Boycott: We urge all Tacoma residents, families, and visitors to withhold their dollars and refuse to step foot inside Dorky's Arcade.
2. Vendor Accountability: We call on all independent gaming vendors and distributors to pull their machines, pinball units, and equipment from the floor.
3. City Review: We call on the Tacoma City Council and local leadership to aggressively review this business’s compliance, licensing, and public safety standing.
Please sign this petition to show that Tacoma stands against hate, stands with the victim's family, and will no longer tolerate the toxic presence of Dorky's Arcade.
