Boycott board exam 2025-2026

The Issue

The stress levels among students sitting for board examinations have reached alarming heights, and many young individuals have been pushed to their breaking points. Personally, this issue hits close to home as I have witnessed the severe impact of these difficult exams, leading to cases where the stress has been so unbearable that it has even resulted in the need for medical interventions, including surgery.

The recent board exam papers for the 2024 session were incomprehensibly challenging, which has taken a toll on the mental health of countless students. The pressure not only affects academic performance but has profound implications on the overall well-being of our youth. Statistics show a rising curve in student anxiety and depression rates, linked directly to the high-stakes testing environment. The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified exam-induced stress as a significant health risk for teens globally.

Furthermore, several educational studies suggest that the current examination model disproportionately burdens students without accurately reflecting their understanding or potential. The American Psychological Association highlights how high-pressure exams can derail a student’s educational journey, leading to long-term psychological scarring.

A change is long overdue. By boycotting the board exams for the academic years 2025-2026, we send a strong message to educational authorities and policymakers that reforms are urgently needed in the examination system. We need to adopt more holistic assessment methods that prioritize student wellness and accurately measure their skills and knowledge through diverse means.

We propose the introduction of continuous assessment practices that lower the reliance on one-time, high-stakes exams. Alternative evaluation methods, which include project work, presentations, and practical assignments, should be considered to create a more balanced and fair testing ecosystem. Many educational institutions in progressive systems have already started implementing such measures with great success.

Join this movement to make a significant change and pave the way for a healthier, more equitable academic environment for our future generations. Sign this petition to boycott the board exams 2025-2026 and support the call for much-needed reform in the education system.
