Petition to arrest and convict Alan Willis & accomplices for animal cruelty in DeKalb, Tx.
The Issue
On July 2nd, 2016 employees at a local business in Dekalb, Tx., arrived to work to find a mother dog and some of her pups missing. The business routinely helps foster animals to allieviate crowding at the local shelter. They watched their survellience tape from the previous night and were horrified to see two or three males viciously beating and abusing the mother dog and the puppies.
The video was released to area online news outlets the same day and the Bowie County Sheriff's Office asked for assistance from the community in identifying the individuals seen in the video. A few days later, one of the suspects own father recognized his nineteen year old son and contacted police. At least one other juvenile (possibly two) was also identified.
After that, the only update available was from online media sources who stated that Alan Willis age 19 and at least one juvenile accomplice would be turning themselves into the Bowie County Sheriff's Office. It was also mentioned by various people on a local Texarkana, TX/AR community Facebook group called "Cheers and Jeers" that nothing would be done as far as arrests due to it being the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Today, ten days later, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. Neither the Bowie County Sheriff's Office, nor it's Sheriff James Prince, have made any official statement to the community regarding this case.
We, the undersigned, demand to see animal cruelty laws upheld and strictly enforced, as well as more currently aligned with the rest of the Country. We expect to see these individuals arrested, charged with animal cruelty (as well as any other applicable charges), and punished to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Every community, incuding ours, deserves better and these defenseless animals certainly do. We are THEIR voice in this instance.
As well as signing, I would also appreciate your help in sharing this video with animal advocates and animal organizations OUTSIDE of our community, as well as locally. Thank you for your signature and for your support.
