No school after Halloween for BVSD students

No school after Halloween for BVSD students
The Issue
We want to have one day off of school the day after Halloween in all Boulder Valley School District schools. This would make it so that the kids can have more fun on Halloween night and they won’t have to worry about getting to bed early, feeling sick at school the next day, being overtired and not ready to learn in class, and not being in the best mindset for school. Halloween only comes around once a year and is arguably the most fun holiday. Kids look forward to trick or treating all night and spending time eating their candy with friends. Having to go to school the next day ruins the fun. If you have to go to school, you have to make sure you don’t eat too much candy, get to bed on time, and don’t bring any candy to school in the morning. If there was no school, kids could stay out later, eat their candy and enjoy themselves without having the stress of school, and they could have sleepovers with their friends. If there is school the next day, that also means they will most likely have homework and who wants to do homework when you should be out having a good time with friends and family. After all this only happens once a year. There is only one con to having a day off after Halloween and that is either ending school a day later, or taking away one day off on either Thanksgiving break, winter break, or spring break. Overall the only outcomes of having a day off of school are positive and reasonable. I am speaking for most students when I say a day off is a great idea.
