Council voted unanimously to put online and electronic petitioning on the ballot, as well as some other things.
They will be voting on it a third time September 4th. Longtime Councilman Steve Pomerance and I will be there to answer any last questions, but it's mostly a formality.
Starting in September we'll need letters to the editor and other promotion to get Boulder voters to approve it in November.
The easy thing we can do now is to get more people to sign the petition so we have a bigger email list when we need help. Again, it's easier to use the shortcut to this petition: tinyurl.com/Boulderpet, short for Boulder petition.
Assuming it passes, Council will almost certainly appoint another more technical working group to decide between online and electronic petitions and work out security details, Etc.
Then Council will implement the final system by a simple ordinance that won't require a vote of the people.
Only then will government BY the people come into the 21st century, finally!
And then we need to move it to the state level. Please ask your state representatives to support this.
