This media report examines the daily day to day hardships experienced by some of the communities living close to the elephants experience.
These hardships cannot be ignored. We need to listen to the people in the communities, we need to hear what they need not what the political leaders are telling us they need.
We need to examine why there are so many elephant in Botswana. Are there too many elephant in Botswana. Is it because they feel safe there as opposed to in neighbouring Zimbabwe or Namibia.
We need to examine safe corridors for them to move to and fro, so that the land is not over utelized by them. Elephants don’t need more fences they need safer areas to move naturally as they always have.
Elephants need protection from the poaching gangs and the trophy hunters.
