Grade deflation has been a problem for over a few decades now and has impacted the lives of many students who are trying to get into graduate school or enter the job market. In this pandemic, the job market is already brutal and BU students are having a harder time than ever to apply for jobs and internships. Some schools that are either higher ranked or lower ranked have grade deflation so it is very difficult to compete with someone who attends Harvard and has 3.4 GPA than a Terrier with a 3.0 GPA. The administration so far has been either avoiding or denying this problem and we need to take a step right now before it's too late. The recession is coming and grade deflation has to stop before it ruins career prospects of terriers. It was supposed to make BU more prestigious but at what cost? Its students' career? We all need to take a stance and make our voices heard. We either need to fix the grade deflation problem or make this policy known so graduate schools and companies could take this into account while reviewing terriers.
