Thanks to the generous and timely support from all of YOU, we are happy to report that the law firm of McGregor & Legere, PC was swiftly engaged and has been hard at work, completing its initial review and legal research on our beloved Prouty Garden. This included a review of the construction plans and actions to-date of the Children’s Hospital administration, the historic documents related to the space, and the funding of the Garden at the time of endowment. McGregor & Legere strongly believe that we have a number of worthy avenues of action, pertaining to the aforementioned areas. Some are supportable within the scope of our initial agreement with the firm. We are immediately moving ahead with these actions, thanks to your support, and will report results as we realize them in the future. To ensure ongoing legal counsel and pursue further efforts, additional financial support will be needed. After careful consideration, we have increased our fundraising goal to $50,000 to secure support for these future actions (http://www.gofundme.com/saveprouty). We are deeply grateful for the swift outpouring of support, and in no way want to distress those who have already given all that they can. There are over 11,000 people who have signed the change.org petition, and we are optimistic that there are many more supporters who may be in a position to help us take this effort to the next level. If every person who signed the petition donated just $5.00, we would exceed our goal! Our preservation effort remains first and foremost a direct plea from Prouty Garden supporters – to change the building plans and preserve our nationally-renowned healing garden, a sacred space at Children’s. We do not speak up against the hospital, but for the thousands of people who need and want the garden preserved in its natural state. We speak up against the uninformed arrogance that disregards the collective wisdom of families and Children’s Hospital’s own caring staff – those most familiar with the Prouty’s critical impact. We speak up for things of deep value that should never be sacrificed in the interest of cost savings and business growth. We ask that each of you continue to help in any way that you can – by donating, sharing our GoFundMe page on Facebook and Twitter, and emailing your family and friends. AND, we invite everyone to attend our next GATHERING TO SAVE THE PROUTY GARDEN on Monday, August 3rd from 11am-1pm in front of the hospital, at 300 Longwood Avenue. We hope to see you there! THANK YOU.
