Bossier Parish Schools and Daycares should be required to close due to severe weather conditions  in adequate enough time to allow parents to make arrangements for their child. When Shreveport Schools close down Bossier Parish Schools need to close as well. Bossier and Shreveport are connected even though they are two separate parishes. It is in no way beneficial to wait until last minute to make a decision just hours before school is to start.  If the Parish starts closing roads early due to severe weather conditions then we should take heed and close the schools in these areas as well. Every year we go through this when Shreveport gives everyone a heads up that the schools will be closed and Bossier continues to wait until the last minute before they decide to close. Bossier Parish Schools do not give parents enough time for parents to make plans with closed roads due to being iced up. The cold weather also can cause pipes to freeze our schools are not prepared for these temperatures. With Icy road and severe weather conditions we ask that Bossier Parish School please hear us as we ask to be on board with Shreveport and give parents time to make proper preparations for their children as well as keep the safety of our kids and parents in mind when they decide to wait to the last minute to make the call to close school in extreme weather conditions. We also need to keep in mind that kids are not allowed to wear proper winter clothing to school per school board dress code.
