UK Must Stop Burning Trees

UK Must Stop Burning Trees

The Issue

We are students from around the world who are shocked that the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is burning 25 million trees a year in his power stations.

Mr Johnson, your country only plants 5 million trees a year - so you have to import the trees from the USA and Russia. This is unsustainable.

You are setting an appalling example and we urge global leaders to rebuke you at the UN Climate Conference in November.

The green movement called out Brazil for burning trees in the Amazon. Britain is just as bad.

Hundreds of top academics have said burning trees in power stations is making climate change worse.

That’s because burning trees creates more carbon dioxide than burning coal. It is the worst way to generate power.

Even more shocking is that Boris Johnson’s government claims that burning these trees creates zero carbon emissions. So Mr Johnson, that’s how you want to fake your way to net zero – just claim burning trees doesn’t create CO2!

Your pretend green government is responsible for massive forests being destroyed.

Other countries are planning to copy you. By the end of this decade 200 million trees will be being burnt in power stations around the world.

Every year.

Unless we the world’s students stop it.

Students don’t have 100 years to wait for the trees to grow back.
