Tax free wages for frontline NHS staff during COVID-19

Tax free wages for frontline NHS staff during COVID-19
The Issue
Tax relief during COVID-19 for frontline NHS staff.
During these times and in the midst of high levels of staff sickness within our departments staff are likely to be doing many overtime shifts to cover staffing shortfalls (currently paid at time and a half).
Nurses have been asked to 'draw upon reserves' by Mr Hancock something which many have been doing for a long time. So what is the government 'drawing upon' to help us? Or are they again relying on the good will gestures?
However the more shifts we do to assist with the rise in A&E attendance of patients and low levels of staffing.. the more tax that will be paid out of our wages, making some of these extra shift not worth while for our pay. We need and deserve an incentive to do these extra shifts. Our skills are needed but are the Government willing to ensure a tax ban.
The Government have said they will now pay 80% of people’s wages up to £2500. Some of these people at home will therefore be being paid a higher wage than nursing staff working full time in the frontline.
Approx £15 per hour is not an acceptable amount of pay to be facing COVID on a daily basis. Putting our health and our families health at risk.
