stop the south downs national park getting developed with 600+ houses at Liphook,Hampshire
The Issue
Stop a development which will result in 600+ high density 'affordable housing' to be constructed within the South Down National Park expanding the already over populated village of Liphook.
There is no further capacity for another 1300 plus people. The roads/ school/ trains/ supermarket are at their capacity.
The same development was tried before in 2014 and rejected; since then the entire Bordon Garrison has been developed into affordable housing some 6 miles away bringing an influx of people to the area.
The talk of landscape and biodiversity enhancements is overstated. The development is carving up the South Downs National Park. The damage out weighs the benefits. Within the area local to Liphook, there are 7 European endangered reptile species.
The development company is based in Oxford. How much do they really care about a Hampshire community? What is their motivation?
Adding a roundabout onto Portrsmouth Road will add further misery to an aleady over crowded road enticing more traffic into the area and further more traffic jams.
The schools are at capacity which will mean more vehicles on the roads egressing out of liphook to schools in the area that do have capacity during the busiest times of the day.
The local train station is running at capacity, Transport For London has no capacity for terminating further services on the London to Portsmouth Line. Extending the carpark capacity will only add to further public transport misery.
Liphook is full.
Stop developing, stop destroying our National Parks
