This petition is in protest to stop Newham council from implementing their new Residents parking permit scheme In 2021 which is deemed as unfair and not equally acceptable under the equality act 2010 and discriminates amongst the poorer families. 

The new scheme will see some motorists in Newham will pay high price for their vehicle Parking permits to park outside their own homes as in the past each household was eligible for a free parking permit but the council now wants to abolish this and charge each household a fee of £60 for new electric and hybrid vehicle permits and more charge for vehicles with high emissions such as petroleum and diesel and price depending on your vehicle emissions.

As a resident living in Newham for more then 20 years I think this is wrong and can harm the poorer families in Newham economically unfairly. And not to forget we are a poorer borough and it will hit us hard if the council goes ahead with this new implementation rules for parking permits. 

instead of increasing prices on parking permits the Newham council should help motorists to pay towards buying a new environmentally friendly vehicles rather it’s for a family car or for business use or for pleasure. The council should have financial support and grants in place to help the residents to buy new low emissions vehicles or pay £4000 to each household towards buying a new vehicle. As new environmentally vehicles can cost substantially between £15.000 to £20.000. Which is a substantial sum and most residents in Newham cannot afford this amount. 

If Newham council cannot accept the above proposal to help residents towards buying a environmentally friendly vehicle then they should leave the parking permit free of charge for all households and for all vehicles in Newham as most people in Newham agree with the currant parking permit scheme and they do not like the new changes coming into place on 2021 as we all already pay the road taxes for our vehicles.
