Why this petition matters

Started by Lauren Atkin

Our UK zoos are in dire need of help. Relying on roughly 97% of their income from visitors every day, zoos are struggling to find the money to support their animals in these difficult times.

People are already piling onto beaches and public parks, where it is impossible to control numbers and maintain social distancing standards, private gardens are even starting to open up, yet zoos have to sit back and watch hopelessly as their much needed money dwindles away.

This is not right. There is a way that zoos can reopen safely for the public with regulations in place. We just need the government to give the go-ahead for zoos to reopen so that they can regain some of their much needed funds for the animals. PLEASE SIGN. The animals' lives and welfare are at stake.

As a volunteer at my local zoo, this is a very important issue for me. And it should be for you too. Zoos are our safety nets for when important species become extinct in the wild, and without your money, some of these animals might even have to be euthanised, and the safety nets will disappear. We need your help: with just one click, you can make a difference for these animals, and possibly save their lives. Please sign this petition so that zoos around the country can continue to prevent extinction.
