The Issue

The rise in dog theft in this last year has been extraordinary. This is due to the pandemic which has lead to the demand for a dog/puppy higher than usual. This has meant that the price of a puppy that may usually be £500 is now in the region on £2000. Dog owners are now afraid to walk their dogs in case they are stolen. Too many times people have had their dogs ripped off them, the microchip been brutally removed and then the poor animal being sold on for profit in another location making it hugely difficult for owners to be reunited with their dog. Unfortunately police cannot do enough to catch these people or retrieve the dog but we can put a stop to the huge price tag by asking the government to put a limit to the amount that people can advertise these dogs at. Please help and support us so that we can end this. By signing this petition may mean that the cost of a dog or puppy is dramatically decreased back to a reasonable amount as was before the pandemic and will therefore hopefully reduce the numbers of dogs being stolen and resold.
