The Issue

LOVEHOLIDAYS.COM and other similar companies are breaking the law by not issuing refunds, they need be forced to issue refunds to anyone who was due to holiday between 17 March to 16 April 2020.

It's no secret that the government has stopped all but essential transport in the UK for 30 days, however it is likely to be extended for a much longer period.

An estimated two million overseas package holidays were due to depart in the first 30 days of the government’s warning against non-essential travel, running from 17 March to 16 April 2020. They have all been cancelled – representing around £1bn that the law insists should be paid back to consumers, however LOVEHOLIDAYS like other companies are totally refusing to offer refunds.

I think what add's salt to the wound is that Loveholidays have now moved all of their customer service to Web chat only which comes across very careless and is VERY poor customer service. And actually it's quite horrible for us considering we are the people losing thousands of pounds.

My holiday for myself and family is over £3000 and the Web chat service rep told me they cannot refund my money as all reps in the company have been told not too.

Although legislation will change shortly, these companies are CURRENTLY breaking the law that is in place now which safeguards travellers. They should be forced to give customers back their money and someone should be prosecuted if they refuse to do so. Everyone with a fully or partially paid holiday deserves their money back especially if they're flights have been cancelled and hotels closed. How can we be expected to change our holiday dates when we do not know when the Virus epidemic will cease.

This petition is to urge the UK Government to FORCE LoveHolidays and companies alike to issue refunds with imidiate effect. Or if the legislation changes, they should honour the law at that time to anyone who's holidays were booked between 17 March to 16 April 2020.

We as consumers still have our rights and we are still entitled to refunds in full. We must hold companies like this accountable, we must pressure the government to force those companies breaking the law to give us refunds, this is our money and thousands will lose thousands of pounds because of this.
