With the General Election in full swing, we want to ensure the voices of EU citizens in the UK and Britons abroad are heard and acted on.

In one week's time, the political parties will publish their manifestos.

Help us make sure our demands are reflected in those manifestos:

  1. Hold a public inquiry into #DeniedMyVote
  2. Safeguard the rights of EU citizens to vote and stand in all elections for which they currently have the franchise (elections for all local and district council seats, directly elected mayors, police commissioners, the Welsh Assembly, the London Mayor and Assembly, the Northern Ireland Assembly and the Scottish Parliament).
  3. Give the franchise to EU citizens in General Elections
  4. Scrap 15 year rule debarring Britons abroad from voting

We need you to call on the candidates in your area asking them to  back these demands or contact us to do so.

You could also write to your local paper calling on the candidates to pledge their support for our campaign.

It is already clear millions of people who should be able to vote in the election on 12 December will not be able to do so.

This will include many students, as well as people who for one reason or another are not able to vote in person and/or do not register or apply for a postal or proxy vote in time including many Britons abroad.

All this will be made much worse by the fact that the election has been called at short notice and in winter when the days are shortest.

We know from the experience of #DeniedMyVote this summer that all this will suit the government well.

The Government will be the last people to take steps to make sure that the 12 December poll is conducted on the widest possible franchise.

Our message is clear:

All parties must give a clear commitment to maintaining and extending the current franchise in their manifestos.

All parties must do whatever they can to promote voter registration and participation in this election.

All parties must pledge to hold a public inquiry into #DeniedMyVote or explain why they are not prepared to do so.

This is an intensive campaign and we need your continued support.

Please do give what you can so that we have the means to continue to campaign to safeguard our democracy and everyone's right to vote.
