People shouldn’t be priced out of testing for COVID.

News that free COVID lateral flow tests face the axe by the Conservatives will set the fight against COVID. The Conservatives have recently given mixed messages on whether the lateral flow tests will stay free. The people need the government to guarantee that the lateral flow tests will remain free. Living amidst a cost of living crisis, people will potentially face the choice of paying to heat their homes, feed their families AND paying for a COVID test. This is too costly.

We are calling on the Prime Minister to guarantee free lateral flow testing kits for all residents in England.  Accurate data has been one of the most important tools to fight COVID-19 and its variants.  If charges are introduced - then many people will simply not get tested.

If the Tory Government introduces charges for tests - it will completely set the fight back and impact the poorest already beset by a cost of living crisis. There are already testing kits for sale by private companies. Lateral Flow Tests are already being flogged for over £100 for 20 tests by a private company based in Nottingham.
