Financial Support for families of key workers who have died from Covid19 on the front line

The Issue

I have started this petition as I believe we need to ensure that all key workers who have been supporting the front line and have died from Covid19 need to have financial stability for their families.

Many key workers are the lowest paid in our country, (many have had to use food banks as they do not earn enough money in their roles e.g. care staff ) yet they are the backbone of this county.

Key workers are incredibly brave, courageous and caring, as a country we need to ensure that they have not died in vain. Many will not have life insurance, a nest egg or other financial backup. The least we can do is provide those families with the money their relatives would have earned had they not become a victim of Covid-19.

Please can you take time to read and support this petition to influence the Government in really understanding what we need to do to ensure these families do not become victims to poverty following the heroic act that their relatives have provided during this pandemic (second victim principle) I do not want them to be forgotten when all of this is over, and have the sadness repeated. We need to actually deliver on this.

I am a nurse, I have been a nurse for over 20 years and I have friends and family on the front line (healthcare, retail, refuse, social care) but we need to do this for ALL key workers and not be biased in anyway. Thank you for taking time to read this, your support is very much appreciated

Kind regards
